The folks behind the long-standing vegan restaurant Vertical Diner have opened a new plant-based business in South Salt Lake.

Vertical Deli opened a week ago at 3245 S. State St., just north of the Century 16 Cinemark theater. According to Google Street View, the building is the former home of a Wendy’s, Blue Finn, Mezquite, Benji’s Bar-B-Que Shack, Dolly Donuts and 83 Cafe.

The new restaurant’s menu features vegan sandwiches, bowls, burgers and all-day breakfast, as well as salads and pastries. A vegan “market” sells grab & go items.

Instagram posts from Vertical Diner say they hope to get a liquor license to sell wine and beer, and plan to get a drive-thru operating by August.

Vertical Diner is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week.
